J. Bryan Williamson,
M.D., specializes in reconstructive spinal surgery. He has a special
interest and training in the care of sports-related injuries of the
spine.
Dr. Williamson holds active staff appointments with Texas Orthopedic Hospital and Memorial City Hospital. He also has
privileges at The Methodist Hospital, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, and Texas
Children's Hospital.
Born in Odessa, Texas, Dr. Williamson received his Bachelor's
Degree in Biology, Magna Cum Laude, from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, with high honors.
Dr. Williamson
completed one year of Surgical Internship and four years of Orthopedic Residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Memorial Hospital. His orthopedic training included working for the National Health Service in Norwich, England, in the areas of joint replacement and spine surgery. He then continued his training with a one-year fellowship in sports medicine at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, under the direction of John Bergfeld, followed by a one-year fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Williamson has several original academic publications to his credit, including originally-generated papers, book chapters, and meeting presentations.
