David M. Bloome, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon in Houston, Texas specializing in surgery of the foot and ankle. He has an interest in problems of the Achilles tendon, ankle arthroscopy, sports injuries, fractures, and arthritis of the foot and ankle.


Originally from Iowa, David M. Bloome grew up in Houston and graduated from St. John's School. He graduated with honors from Emory University in Atlanta with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He obtained his Medical Doctorate from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he graduated with honors and was a member of the AOA National Honor Society. Dr. David Bloome completed an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was awarded a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery from Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas at Houston Medical School in Houston, Texas.


Throughout his residency and fellowship, Dr. Bloome gained a vast amount of experience in covering a number of sports teams. He served as a team physician for The University of New Mexico, the New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League, Albuquerque Academy, and St. John's School in Houston.


Dr. Bloome has been involved in orthopedic research and has a number of presentations and publications to his credit. He is a member of the following societies:


  • American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
  • American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS)
  • Harris County Medical Society
  • Texas Medical Association

Dr. Bloome holds staff appointments at Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, and the Methodist Hospital.


In addition to his Texas license, Dr. David Bloome is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
