Idris S. Gharbaoui, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, microsurgery and peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery in both adults and children. A native of Rabat, Morocco, Dr. Gharbaoui received training in General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery at the Mohamed V. University. Dr. Gharbaoui has completed many fellowship trainings. His first fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery was received from Reims University Hospital in Paris, France. He then concluded a fellowship in Pediatric Hand Surgery at the Trousseau Children's Hospital in Paris, France. Dr. Gharbaoui was awarded a fellowship in Microsurgical Techniques in Hand Surgery at the Institut Francais de la main, in Paris, France. He then moved the United States and completed three fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, for Pediatric Orthopedics, Plastic Hand Surgery, and Orthopedic Hand Surgery. Dr. Gharbaoui began his practice in Houston, Texas, and was first associated with the University of Texas Health Science Center as Assistant Professor and Chief of the Hand Surgery service. He then moved to Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as Associate Professor and Chief of the Orthopedic Hand Service at Texas Children's Hospital. He also serves as Chief of the brachial plexus program at the Houston Shriners Hospital for Children.

Dr. Gharbaoui has over 100 lectures and communications in national and international meetings to his credit. He has published many articles and book chapters as well. He speaks fluently in English, French, and Arabic. Dr. Gharbaoui is a member of multiple societies, including:

  • Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie
