Dr. Ryan Conyer is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the surgical and non-surgical management of hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow injuries, with a particular focus on arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques. He cares for patients ranging from elite athletes to anyone seeking to return to work, sport, and daily life.
A proud native of Abilene, TX, Dr. Conyer earned his medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine after graduating summa cum laude from Texas A&M University. He then completed a top-ranked orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic, where he received comprehensive training across the full spectrum of orthopedic care. During residency, he was actively involved in the treatment of high-level athletes, helping provide orthopedic care for the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Minnesota Lynx.
Following residency, Dr. Conyer was selected for a dedicated orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the University of Virginia, where he received advanced training in hip, knee, and shoulder arthroscopy, knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, shoulder arthroplasty, and the management of complex sports-related injuries. During fellowship, he served as a team physician for the University of Virginia Division I athletics, further refining his expertise in treating elite athletes.
Dr. Conyer has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, with research interests focused on knee ligament reconstruction, hip arthroscopy, and shoulder arthroplasty. He has presented his work nationally and internationally and remains committed to evidence-based care and ongoing clinical innovation.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Conyer enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, dove hunting, and perfecting manual coffee brewing techniques.
